The 2018 World Cup in Russia is just around the corner. At the new stadium in Saint Petersburg, we are helping to make this global sporting event a success. The new stadium has a capacity of almost 68,000, three times that of its predecessor. It features a state-of-the-art moving roof that uses a special transparent material: our Nowoflon ET film. This material covers the roof of the stadium and ensures the perfect light and temperature conditions for soccer, even when the roof is closed.
Our EFTE film Nowoflon ET allows light and UV radiation to permeate. It provides non-flammability properties and even cleans itself. Despite its low weight, the material is capable of withstanding heavy loads. Its high durability makes Nowoflon ET a premium product ideal for a prestigious event like the World Cup. In addition, EFTE is fully recyclable, making it easy to dispose of when no longer needed. This ensures that the new stadium is also a sustainable one.
Over half a million square feet of Nowoflon ET film installed
Located on the Baltic Sea, Saint Petersburg has a harsh climate that places high demands on the material. This was taken into account when planning the roof and choosing the material. Nowoflon ET has a thermal service range of -200 to +150°C and a melting point of 265°C. The EFTE cover on the roof of the stadium consists of 96 cushions, with 36 located on the fixed roof section and 60 on the moving section. This called for a lot of EFTE film. To be precise, over half a million square feet of Nowoflon ET film were installed.
When designing the roof, Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa was inspired by a spaceship, which made transparent film the material of choice. Nowoflon ET films are available in almost any color. When designing the correct color gradation, we cooperate closely with architects to ensure the best possible interplay between light and color to create world-class architecture.
Network Rail on 20 September has opened Birmingham New Street station after a five-year, £750m transformation. Boasting an iconic new atrium with approximately 8000 square meter NOWOFLON ET 6235 Z Film over a huge passenger concourse - five times the size of London Euston's - the station, which opens its doors to the public on Sunday 20 September 2015, has been rebuilt while trains continued to run as normal for the 170,000 passengers a day who use it.

The new station features 43 shops at concourse level and above it sits the new Grand Central shopping complex, including one of the UK's largest John Lewis department stores. The 450,000 sq ft shopping destination, which will has opened its doors today, will create more than 1,000 jobs and is expected to attract more than 50 million visitors a year.
